How a Pope got priceless PR for peanuts

The first Pope to visit Sydney, Paul VI, in 1970, began the tradition of a papal Mass on Randwick racecourse. It happened quite simply. The Australian Jockey Club chairman, Sir Brian Crowley, rang a tour organiser and offered the racecourse free.
