A body discovered in a lake at Alexandra Gardens Park in Ararat today has been identified as an elderly man from the community.

Ararat Police constable Rowan Thorne said it was not believed suspicious circumstances were involved.
"An elderly gentleman has gone down to the lake and fallen in," he said.
"What the cause of death is we won't know until the autopsy."
The man was aged in his late 60's and lived in Ararat.
His body has been removed from the lake and taken to Ararat police station.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said the body was discovered just after 1pm today.
There are reports the television series Ararat's Biggest Loser was filming in the area when the body was discovered.
A spokesperson from Network Ten said there was no connection.
It is not known if suspicious circumstances are involved in the man's death.
