Ideal for those who love presenting funny facts and always have the classroom in stitches, Class Clowns provides a chance for teenagers to learn how to take their sense of humour from the schoolyard to the stage.
With the Ballarat heat held on March 4 at Her Majesty's Theatre, teenagers aged 14 to 18 (in 2014) can now sign up to workshop five minutes of their original gags with professional comedians before competing on stage at their local heats.
Entrants can register stand-up acts, sketches or musical parodies as a solo act or in a group of up to three members.
In past years, Class Clowns entrants have had comedians such as Sammy J, Sam Simmons, DeAnne Smith, Harley Breen, Dave Williams, Matt Okine and Anne Edmonds guide them through the world of comedy.
The overall winner of the 2014 competition will take home $1,500 for themselves and a $1,000 workshop package for their school.
The Class Clowns grand final will be held on Thursday, April 3 at Melbourne Town Hall.
