Carols by candlelight Creswick's first for several years

From Hark the Herald Angels Sing right through to We Wish You a Merry Christmas – for two hours, the people of Creswick united in song on Saturday night for the town’s first carols by candlelight for several years.

About 200 people gathered at Hammon Park to listen to the 25-piece Creswick Brass Band and the Ballarat Salvation Army Community Church choir.

The solid turn-up ensured it was unlikely to be the last.

“It is the first time we’ve had carols by candlelight in Creswick for quite a few years,” carols director Jason White said.

“We will run it again next year and we’re hoping, now people have had a taste for it, we could build on those numbers.”

Santa also made an appearance, catching a ride with a Creswick CFA fire truck.

The event was supported by the Creswick and District Community Bank.
