The under-15 mixed relay team of Grace O’Dwyer, Cleo Anderson, Bailey Squire and Harry Lamb, snagged two medals.
They took out gold for the 4x200 meter event in 1 minute 43.21 seconds, and silver in the 4x100 meter with a time of 48.97 seconds.
Rodney Davis, Schafer Loges, Melissa Wilson and Tessa Landwehr represented the under-14 Ballarat mixed relay team and won gold in the 4x100 meter event in 51.12 seconds.
Little Athletics Ballarat president Shane Bicknell said he was impressed by the leadership displayed by club captains Cleo and Bailey at the weekend at Albert Park.
“Ballarat will usually pull a couple of medals each year, but this is a great result for the kids,” Bicknell said.
“Some of the younger ones just went for the experience and they ran really well. But it is a great result for these kids who have been training for a long time.
“They enjoy the challenge, the camaraderie and working towards a goal.
“It’s not about winning, it’s about beating your personal best and if you get a medal at the end that’s just a bonus.”
The tournament was contested by about 50 little athletics clubs across the state.
