A MAN threw a cup of coffee at the gaming room manager at The George Hotel before throwing a chair at an employee outside the venue yesterday.
Ballarat police quickly came to The George Hotel about 2.30 yesterday afternoon after the customer lost control and employees detained the man while awaiting police arrival.
The George owner Gary Browning said the incident was over within five minutes.
“After he threw the coffee at the gaming room manager, he was asked to leave,” Mr Browning said.
“Once outside he was a bit upset and threw a chair, when we held him waiting for police.”
Leading Senior Constable Scott McLoughlin said foot patrol staff were nearby and attended the scene before vehicles arrived at the Lydiard Street venue soon after.
Police were still investigating the incident before establishing any offences, he said.
