The event will now be incorporated into the BRA's graded and masters regatta on Saturday, April 5.
Low entries forced the postponement.
The association announced the change to the Rowing Victoria calendar today after getting just 45 entries for what was to have been a two-day event on Lake Wendouree.
Regatta secretary Lance Deveson said while the postponement was disappointing, the regatta had become the victim of a busy schedule and a clash with the Labor Day long weekend.
He said as well as falling on the long weekend, which had resulted in school crews not entering, rowers were also looking for a break after the state championships in Ballarat over the weekend and the nationals at Penrith from March 24.
Deveson said as it turned out, the calendar was just too busy.
The BRA regatta is traditionally in January and had been moved to add another lead-in event to the nationals.
Deveson said in retrospect it would have been better left earlier in the year.
