Ballarat breakfast report: March 27

WEATHER

Many residents might have been drenched heading to work this morning with rain blanketing Ballarat.

However, it shouldn't stick around all day with a top of 22 degrees predicted and the rain expected to ease through the morning and afternoon.

There is a chance of more rain for the next two days, so be sure to have your umbrella handy.

POLICE

A quiet night for Ballarat Police with nothing to report.

However, police were at the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident yesterday morning in Bung Bong, near Avoca.

Police told The Courier this morning the deceased man was 24-years-old but were unable to disclose where he was from.

It’s believed the motorcycle rider was travelling along the Avoca- Talbot Road when he collided head on with a truck near the Pyrenees Highway just after 9am.

The truck driver aged 46 from St Arnaud was not injured and was assisting police with their inquiries yesterday.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au

TRAINS

While the V/Line website is reporting good service on the Ballarat line it hasn't been all smooth running this morning.

The 05:08 train  from Bacchus Marsh  to Southern Cross service was delayed approximately 21 minutes, due to a train fault.

It doesn't appear that this delay has impacted other services yet.
