The initial Australian athletics nominations for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow were announced yesterday.

Mitchell qualified for the women’s 3000m steeplechase by claiming a national title in a B-qualifying time in Melbourne last weekend.
Athletics Australia has announced 45 selections for the July-August Games in Glasgow.
That number is expected to at least double in the coming months before the qualification period closes on June 1.
Ballarat marathon great Steve Moneghetti, now the chef de mission for the Australian Commonwealth Games team, said it would be the largest athletics team from this country to compete overseas.
