POLICE

Ballarat police attended a minor single car collision on the Western Highway at Woodmans Hill in the early morning. There were no injuries and the highway wasn't blocked.

Bomb experts were also yesterday still at the scene of an explosion at Derrinallum, 80 kilometres south west of Ballarat, which is believed to have claimed the life of one man and resulted in two police officers being taken to hospital.

FIRE

Ballarat City Fire attended a call-out for the smell of burning at McDonald's in Bakery Hill, which turned out to be a false alarm.

They also sorted out a gas heater fire at Sebastopol, which may have been caused by a birds nest behind the heater.

Fire services have also headed back down to Derrinallum for the continuing investigation into an explosion.

AMBULANCE

Nothing to report.

SES
