Three people were taken to hospital after the collision.
Police said two vehicles collided at the intersection of King and Eureka streets in Ballarat East about 1.15pm. One of the cars then hit a parked car on the other side of King Street.
Ballarat Highway Patrol’s Leading Senior Constable Randal Smith said the incident was avoidable.
“People just need to take extra care,” he said. “Here is a case where one car has failed to notice a give way sign ... that’s avoidable.”
Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said the three people had minor injuries, with one suffering an ankle injury and one soft tissue bruising.
Police will be extra harsh on any motorist doing the wrong thing this long weekend with double demerit point losses being handed out.
Also yesterday, an 18-year-old Ferntree Gully man was detected by Wyndham Highway Patrol members travelling at 149km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Princes Freeway in Werribee about 1.40pm.
The man had held a driver’s licence for just five weeks and has had his Ford Laser impounded for 28 days. He will be charged on summons for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.
Three fatalities on West Australian roads and the death of a Chinese tourist in Tasmania have taken the national Easter holiday road toll to four.
