Free Comic Book Day a chance to rediscover the joys of comics

DOES the child in you long for a decent comic book?

If the answer is yes, make sure you get along to the Heroes HQ comic book store in Ballarat for Free Comic Book Day on Saturday.

An event held at comic book stores throughout the world, the day involves store owners giving away thousands of free comic books to lucky punters.

Heroes HQ owner, Garry Fay, said it was all about rediscovering the joy of comic books.

“The wide array of comic books being published today ensures readers of all ages can find something appropriate that will stir their imaginations,” he said.

“Even if you have never picked up a comic book, stop into Heroes HQ, because you never know what you will end up finding.”

The only dedicated comic book shop in Ballarat, Heroes HQ offers a range of new age comic books and matching merchandise.

So well regarded is the shop that it has just been nominated in the prestigious international comic book retailers’ award, the 2014 Eisner Spirit of Comics Award.

Heroes HQ is the only store in Australia to be nominated in the awards.

Free Comic Book Day runs until 4pm.

Heroes HQ is located at 1 Shepperd Street, Ballarat.
