When asked what she had tucked away as her Mother’s Day present, she leaned in conspiratorially, grinned sweetly and said: “It’s a secret”.
But what she didn’t keep a lid on was her favourite part of the Alfredton Kindergarten’s inaugural mini Mother’s Day Classic walkathon – “the walking with my friends!”
On Wednesday, most of the 120 kindergarten children and their families strolled around five laps of the block to raise money for breast cancer
awareness and research.
Kindergarten director Trina Crowe said the children were all sponsored either per lap or via a gold coin donation.
“Breast cancer has touched us all so it sort of resonated with us,” Ms Crowe said.
Pedestrian safety lessons were combined with the walkathon to further educate the children.
