Brian Griffiths was hailed during a ceremony on Wednesday for reaching a 20-year milestone as a volunteer at Ballarat Regional Tourism (BRT).

“I just enjoy it. I enjoy meeting local and overseas visitors and telling them about the old buildings of Ballarat,” Mr Griffiths said.

The 67-year-old has volunteered more than 8000 hours of his time.

Known as a “walking encyclopaedia”, Mr Griffiths said his love and knowledge of Ballarat stemmed from childhood, listening to his father and his father’s cousin talk about the old gold days of Ballarat.
