FIRE

Ballarat Fire crews had a reasonably quiet night aside from a false alarm and a mattress fire.

Three crews attended a mattress fire just before 11pm on Monday night which was caused by an electric blanket fault.

Senior Station Officer David Mounier said it was essential to check blankets so they are prepared for the winter season, especially if they haven't been used for a while.

AMBULANCE

Paramedics had nothing of interest to report.

SES

Crews attended just one call out over night for flooding at a house when rain entered through the roof of a Brown Hill home.

However, Mid-West duty officer Peter Keppel said the SES was bracing for a manic day ahead of Tuesday's forecasted storm.

"The front hasn't hit us yet. We will be expecting a busy day today," he said.

"It depends how strong the winds get. if as forecasted we could easily have in excess of 100 jobs today."
