Dufty was originally expected back playing from a hairline fracture in one of his vertebrae late in the Central Highlands Football League home and away season, but is now likely to miss well into the finals series.
Bungaree coach Greg Middleton said further specialist meetings had advised Dufty against any contact work for another month, which has set his return date back even further.
Dufty sustained the injury in the closing minutes of the round six win over Carngham-Linton, which subsequently ruled him out of Central Highlands’ country championships win over Loddon Valley the following week.
Bungaree now prepares for a top-of-the-table clash with Waubra this Sunday after dropping its first game of the year last weekend against Buninyong.
Meanwhile, Bombers defender Tyler Dittloff is still waiting on news on whether his injured shoulder will need surgery.
Dittloff, a rock in the Bombers’ backline all year, dislocated his shoulder in the win over Bungaree last weekend.
Buninyong coach Jarrod Morgan said Dittloff would find out more on Monday next week.
“He had CT scans and saw a specialist (on Friday), but they don’t get the full report and won’t know about surgery until Monday,” Morgan said.
“All signs look pretty good at the moment. He’s sleeping well, not in a heap of pain and has a fair bit of movement, but has just got to wait for the official report on Monday.
“The best case scenario would be getting back for Gordon in the last game before finals.”
