Timber
Timber tables require waxing to build up patina on the surface for a nice warm glow and a protective coat. Wax will also hide damage as the wax colours the scratches to blend with the rest of the table.
Ensure you’re careful when placing hot objects on the surface of the table. Most damage is not actually caused by the heat, but the moisture from the condensation as the item cools. Place objects such as coasters under hot items to prevent moisture damage on the surface.
Glass-top tables
Glass table tops mark easily, so ensure you place coasters under objects to stop direct contact with the surface.
Metal or stainless steel
Stainless steel is a hard-wearing surface, however scratches cannot be prevented. Over time the scratches will join to form a shiny surface once again.
