Just as now, Russia lied and placed obstacles in the road to revealing the truth. I clearly recall the lies told by Russian military spokesmen, as now, denying all responsibility for this barbarism.
In another eerie parallel, US intelligence proved, beyond all doubt, that Russian fighters deliberately targeted Flight 007, even when they clearly knew that 007 was a non-military aircraft.
The deliberate road blocks placed in the way of those trying to find the wreckage of 007 included the use of false "black-box pings" to cause confusion, as well as the cruder tactics of ramming search vessels.
Russia has clearly not changed and in Putin we find a new Stalin.
