Madeline Groves
Age: 19

Events at Glasgow Commonwealth Games: 50 butterfly, 200 butterfly, 4x100 freestyle relay (heats), 4x200 freestyle relay (heats)

On her first senior team, after narrowly missing selection for last year's world titles. She did her job as a heat swimmer in the 4x100 freestyle relay morning heats, but she struggled in the 4x200 freestyle relay heats and was replaced for the final. She however won bronze in the 200 butterfly. There are big wraps on her as a possible future Madame Butterfly.

Australian swim team coach Jacco Verhaeren says: "She's a great talent especially in the fly and maybe in freestyle as well. What she has shown throughout this year in the 200 fly especially was really impressive this year she has had some ups and downs, and sometimes she was a bit off, but she is really someone for the future luckily because we need strength in 200 fly particularly."

Emma McKeon
Age: 20
Coach: Vince Raleigh (Brisbane)
Events at Glasgow: 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 4x100 freestyle relay, 100 butterfly, 4x200 freestyle relay

Has been one of the stars of the Games for Australia, winning two golds on the opening night in the 200 freestyle and with the world-record breaking 4x100 freestyle relay team. She also won a gold in the 4x200 relay and bronze in the 100 freestyle. McKeon is an enormous talent with a fierce determination to succeed.

Jacco Verhaeren says: "She's really stepped up this season. What I've seen form her this meet she's really developed into a very stable swimmer who you can count and in all of her performances this year I haven't seen a race that was poor or average. What I think is important is that she shows she is able to win close races. She still has quite a while to go to become apparently what she dreams off (but) she's one of our greatest talents in the team."

Emily Seebohm
Age: 22
Coach: Matt Brown (Brisbane)
Events in Glasgow: 50, 100, 200 backstroke, 200IM

Seebohm has been in the Australian team since the 2007 World Championships, winning a host of individual silvers and bronze at world championships and Olympics as well as relay golds, but has not won the gold she has desperately wanted. It is an ambition that lead to tears after winning the silver medal at the London Olympics. She is capable of a breakthrough gold, but has the misfortune of having American superstar Missy Franklin currently ruling the backstroke ranks.

Jacco Verhaeren says:  "She is a very reliable swimmer. She's been around for a long, long time, always, delivering the quality when it counts . She's out of the talent phase and an arrived elite top-ranked swimmer but still I really believe she has the ability to improve the work she is doing. I've talked about it (London) occasionally with Matt. I think these things in a career you always wish it doesn't happen but at the elite level anything and everything can happen so I hope she can leave the past really behind her and look more towards the future. She shouldn't carry this with her. She has so many great performances already in the bag and she's a swimmer whose greatest performance in her life is yet to come I think."

Thomas Fraser-Holmes
Age: 22
Coach: Denis Cotterell (Gold Coast)
Events in Glasgow: 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 400IM, 4x200 freestyle relay

Fraser-Holmes has been around the team for a while but until Glasgow had not impressed internationally. However, he has matured into a solid competitor, showing his nerve to snatch the 200 freestyle away from favourite Cameron McEvoy and helping the 4x200 freestyle relay to a gold medal. He also won a silver in the 400IM and will compete in the 200IM on the final day of competition.

Jacco Verhaeren says: "He's a hard worker, talented and a great guy for the team as well. With all these swimmers they can still improve massively. Fortunately he will stick around for a while, that's my gut feeling and I really hope so because we need him in relays but also in his individual swims. To combine the 200 freestyle and 400IM was maybe a little too tough but he's a tough guy and he showed what he can do that.

David McKeon
Age: 22
Coach: Vince Raleigh (Brisbane)
Events in Glasgow: 200 and 400 freestyle, 4x200 freestyle relay

A late-comer to the competitive swimming scene, McKeon has had a breakthrough meeting in Glasgow. He disappointed at the world championships in Barcelona, but a move to Brisbane with his sister Emma has done wonders for both of them. He lead the 400 freestyle on the opening night for all but the final lap when he was overhauled by 1500 freestyle veteran Ryan Cochrane of Canada. Has the hard, from-the-front swimming style that will win plenty of fans.

Jacco Verhaeren says: "When I first met him and I heard his background, he was a surprising one. He's at the age where you would expect him to have been an elite athlete for at least 10 years already but he's been training at this level for only three or four years so that's pretty special for the events he swims. We can also see in training and testing he has lots of improvement still. I think what he did in Glasgow was an important step for him, to race for medals at a meet where it counts. Knowing his history this is the first time that actually really happened at a big event and it's a great step for the next two years.

Mack Horton
Age:18
Coach: Craig Jackson (Melbourne)
Events in Glasgow: 400 and 1500 freestyle

The Commonwealth Games was Horton's first senior team after previously missing out three times by small margins. He has a big reputation, having won five gold medals as last year's junior world titles, and with Jordan Harrison is set to return pride to Australia's long distance swimming.

Jacco Verhaeren says: 'He's one for the future in 2016, even going into 2020. Australia has some pride to defend in the 1500 freestyle but he can build that legacy and be there as a top performer. He's showing great improvements. He has a great future in front of him, he's a great guy, very intelligent and a great work ethic."
