Lisa Jolly, 45, was involved in a car crash in Pleasant Street about 3.40pm on March 6 before being taken to Ballarat Health Services Base Hospital with minor injuries.
Ballarat Magistrates Court on Thursday heard a blood test at the hospital later returned a positive result for cannabis.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Pepe Brown told the court Jolly, who pleaded guilty to the charge, told police she was not a drug user and had been at a funeral before the crash and may have “passively” ingested cannabis smoke.
Shelley Buchecker, for Jolly, said her client had instructed her that she had not smoked the drug.
Ms Hodgson fined Jolly $650 and suspended her licence for six months.
