The assurance comes as three police stations on the Bellarine Peninsula decrease their opening hours while four more metropolitan stations are under threat.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said no decisions on the location of “supersites” – a concept raised in the recently released Bluepaper – had been determined.
“We know that there is an opportunity in the future for larger, consolidated supersites to replace smaller and less operationally-effective traditional police stations,” the spokesperson said.
“However, no decisions have been made on where these supersites will be.
“There would need to be extensive consultation – with government, the police association, the community - before any decisions are made.”
There are currently several one-man stations in the Ballarat district including Gordon, Rokewood, Lexton, Smythesdale, Linton and Learmonth.
