THE Great Moscow Circus will pitch its tent in town next week, with proceeds from opening night going to the Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral Society.

The Great Moscow Circus has given the society 300 discounted tickets to sell for its August 27 show.

Society director Gerard Ballinger said it was a kind move on the circus’ behalf.

“It’s a goodwill gesture, and will be great for the showgrounds,” he said.

“We’ve got ongoing maintenance issues, so we could use this money for that.”

Circus general manager Greg Hall said fund-raising was an important part of going to country towns.

“In the past five years we’ve raised in excess of half a million dollars. We always get involved in the communities we visit.”
