DESPITE two Ballarat-based teams squaring off in a grand final for the first time since 2010, organisers aren’t expecting a swell in attendance for Saturday’s Ballarat Football League showpiece.

League operations manager Aaron Nunn said the season’s finale tended to get a “pretty steady” crowd regardless of the teams competing.
About 3000 to 4000 patrons are expected to visit Eastern Oval, and with clubs from outside of Ballarat – Bacchus Marsh and Redan – competing in other grade grand finals, a good cross-section of support is expected.
“We’re hoping for a big crowd. Would be great if we get plenty of support,” Mr Nunn said.
“But you can never really tell until five o’clock on a Saturday.”
The traditional half-time sprint – which includes competitors from each senior side – and an under-10s challenge match at half-time of the reserves grand final will provide entertainment for the family while children occupy the jumping castle.
A mostly sunny day is expected to provide perfect conditions, according to Mr Nunn.
Bacchus Marsh will cater for the big day, and the club’s president hopes it won’t run out of snags.
Pat Mullen said about 200 kilogram of meat could be sold, raising money for the Cobras to spend next year.
Mr Mullen expected a big crowd with five clubs competing in all three grand finals.
Ballarat police will be at the oval, looking out for people who abuse alcohol or misbehave.
