Counterterrorism laws get the nod with new checks

Sweeping counterterrorism laws that include new offences for "advocating" terrorism and visiting terrorism hotspots could be passed by Canberra within a fortnight after the major parties broadly embraced changes recommended by a high-powered committee of MPs.
