As part of the third and final leg of his tour, Pyke will perform at Ballarat’s Karova Lounge on Friday following a performance in Castlemaine on Thursday.
Following sold out shows across the nation, Pyke said he was looking forward to returning to Ballarat to perform with Warrnambool singer/songwriter Jackson McLaren.
“This year of touring has been the best, which after 10 years is great to say,” he said.
“I’m playing stuff from all my albums and The Beginning And The End of Everything which has connected really well with fans.”
Fans have the song White Lines Dancing from Pyke’s latest album The Beginning And The End of Everything to thank for Pyke’s carefully curated solo set.
“There is something about this song that inspired me to go back to my back catalogue and take this to my solo shows,” he said.
“It opened a new type of show for me and the feedback has been amazing.”
Pyke said it was also the sounds of McLaren that added to his Victorian leg of solo shows.
“I met Jackson 16 years ago, he opened for my show in Warnambool, where he is from,” he said.
“I really loved what he did and we’ve been friends ever since.”
While on tour, Pyke has managed to squeeze in time to campaign his project Busking for Change which aims to raise funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, this year reaching his goal of $55,000.
In its fi th year, Pyke said he was grateful to everyone who has listened to him play and donated to the project.
“I got to a point in my career six years ago when I was busking that I felt lucky and fortunate enough that I wanted to give something back,” he said.
“It’s great to see so many people come along to those gigs.”
But that’s not the end for Pyke, with a new album predicted to hit the shelves next year.
“I can’t wait to get into album number five,” he said.
“I’ve been writing, I have 25 songs so far, so no doubt some will end up on there.”
