The pair, now aged six and four, were orphaned when their mother Belinda died of cancer in 2011 and their father Nathan died suddenly of natural causes 12 months later.
Now, Nathan’s childhood friend Corey Keem has organised a musical fundraiser – called Natestock – at Karova Lounge next Saturday, followed by a similar event in North Melbourne’s the Public Bar on December 5.
“Nathan and I went way back, so I’ve been wanting to do something for the last few years,” Mr Keem said.
“It’s two days before what would have been Nathan’s birthday, so it’s a bit of a birthday celebration and a party for Belinda and Nathan.
“It’ll be something for the kids to look back on.”
Mr Keem and his heavy rock band Pan will perform their first ever gig, while punk rock band Swhat, heavy metal group Wildeornes and experimental rock band Wormhole are also on the Ballarat bill.
In Melbourne, Pan will be joined by Swhat, 23rd of Elvis and Down River, with both Wormhole and Down River reforming for the performances.
Doors to the Ballarat gig open at 8.30pm with all of the $15 entry fee going to William and Ashleigh, who are cared for by both sets of grandparents.
