But it certainly was on Sunday as more than 6000 women from all over Victoria descended on Creswick to slip, slide and jostle their way through Ballarat's first ever Miss Muddy event.
A 5km course featuring a low crawl through deep, smelly mud, sliding through blow-up water-filled chambers at high speeds and a few hill runs just for good measure.
Anna Spadling and her friends came all the way from Gippsland for the event and said it well worth the trip.
"It has just been awesome fun," a mud-covered Ms Spalding said.
"Parts of it have been challenging, but it's great fun. I'd recommend it to everyone."
Miss Muddy CEO Emma McDonald said it was the sixth Miss Muddy event this year, with others already held in Sydney, Brisbane, Townsville, Aulbury and Canberra.
"It's all about getting together and having some fun," she said.
"And 10 per cent of all entries go to a variety of women's charities."
Ms McDonald estimated the Ballarat event would return a large donation, with other events around Australia raising as much as $10,000.
