Of course these things must be mentioned, but do the publishers stop to think of the effect that the "glorification" of crime and violence can have on impressionable young minds?
I am [not] speaking of young children, who's parents can monitor to a certain extent the things to which they are exposed, but teenagers with their desire to be "with it".
Surely the saturation coverage given to the recent Sydney hostage tragedy must be very appealing to an attention seeking youth with low self-esteem.
We all know that it pays to advertise and surely our own local tragedy at Scarsdale bears this out.
There are other things than ratings and the almighty dollar to be taken into consideration.
