But Andrew and Tina Kultinski have done just that.
The duo were victorious in the annual Glenlyon Family Sports Day bull-boar sausage eating competition on New Year’s Day.
Mr Kultinksi ate three cooked but cold sausages in 1 minute 50 seconds, while Mrs Kultinski ate two in 2 minutes 32 seconds.
Glenlyon Sports Club’s New Year’s Day event is renowned for its quirky, old-fashioned family activities.
Thousands of people flocked to Glenlyon Reserve, near Daylesford, to watch the array of events.
The ladies gumboot throw and nail drive, wood chop, pony races, show jumping, cross country horse riding and mineral water drinking were some of the other activities on offer.
Amanda Williams set a new record by throwing her gumboot 32 metres.
Matt Blackwell clocked up his sixth win in the men’s mineral water drinking competition. He drank one litre of the freshly-pumped Glenlyon mineral springs water in 6.78 seconds.

Fiona McDonald drank 750ml in 4.87 seconds to claim the women’s title.
Glenlyon Sports Club treasurer Denise Leonard said the day was a success.
“I don’t know why people love coming out here, they just do,” Ms Leonard said.
The event’s proceeds are donated to the Daylesford and District Hospital, local charities and youth groups.
The club hopes to raise more than last year’s $16,800.
