The CSIRO has released a report stating with a high degree of confidence that they are forecasting the following for our region: decreasing winter rainfall, an increase in the number of extreme heat days, more droughts and ironically more floods.
This will lead to increased bushfire risks and increased insurance premiums, more of us (and our gardens and sports field) suffering heat stress, higher food prices and lower income for farmers.
News articles of the future will tell the depressing tale of downward trend in the local economy and less pleasant lifestyles.
All of this because we of this generation refuse to make the decisions to rapidly transition to a new age clean energy economy.
The good news is we have the technology and capacity to make this transition, we just need some forward-thinking leaders in power.
Please urge our leaders to think beyond the next popularity poll.
