Smelling of fresh paint and with a spring underfoot on the new floorboards, the Ballaarat Yacht Club has undergone a “Block-like (TV show)” redevelopment.
Formerly Sails on the Lake, the new premises showed off its refurbishment to 100 members and guests of the Ballaarat Yacht Club for the third annual Jive on the Jetty fundraiser.
Manager Wayne Sharp said the 10-day refurbishment had been embraced by the yacht club.
“We’ve given it a breath of fresh air and brought it into the 2000s,” Mr Sharp said. “We wanted to make it an open, inviting place for members and guests.”
Mr Sharp has refur-
bished several licensed premises in the region, including the George Hotel.
Ballaarat Yacht Club commodore Lesley Dav-
ies said the new space was amazing. “We are delighted; it’s what we’ve been looking for,” she said.
The redeveloped Bal-
laarat Yacht Club will open for business on Wednesday, March 4.
