However, I am gravely concerned at the hysteria being whipped up by Australian politicians, the media and bleeding hearts over the anticipated execution of Sukamaran and Chan by the Indonesian government.

They appear to have forgotten that, in arresting, charging and imprisoning the Bali 9, the Indonesian border officials prevented them from importing into Australia large quantities of drugs capable of injuring and killing Australians.

Sukamaran and Chan were key figures in the organisation of the importation, and were involved in recruiting other offenders.

They had previously, and would probably have, been involved in future importations. Those who support Sukamaran and Chan have attacked the Australian police for informing Indonesian border security of the offences.

They should realise that if the Bali 9 had been allowed to proceed to Australia, and arrested here, Australian judges, magistrates and parole boards would have granted them bail, community assistance orders and parole, so that they could continue with their drug importations into Australia.

I cannot understand why Australian politicians would involve themselves in a vigil for two drug runners.
