The open day will raise money for the Friends of the Buninyong Botanic Gardens.
The Open Garden Scheme is in the process of winding up, after announcing its closure last September.
The property is owned by Anne and Berry King, retired architects and farmers, who bought the property in 2008 when it was an irregular 20-acre paddock.
The pair always had the idea of making a landscape more than a garden. Ms Berry said the beautiful setting first attracted them to the property, giving them the perfect canvas to design a house and garden for
themselves.
“We wanted to put the design together ourselves, reflecting the time and place we live in,” she said.
“Our inspiration was around the curves of the land, and we wanted the house to really sit in the land.
“The garden isn’t a defined space, but rather the home’s garden blends into the landscape.”
Group vice-president Roger Permezel said it would be the biggest fundraiser it had held.
“The gardens are quite magnificent. You take more of a landscape view, looking at the big picture – the open spaces, the water, the setting of Mount Buninyong in the background.”
