In an effort to get children outdoors this Easter, Ballarat YMCA have compiled an extensive program of activities to help keep primary aged children occupied over the school holidays.
Ballarat YMCA programs coordinator Hayley Wilson said for working parents it was going to make juggling work and children easier while giving children the chance to get out of the house.
"It's a great way to get the kids active, but it's fun at the same time," she said.
"We find them on their iPads too often these days.
"This way they get to hang out with their friends and do fun things."
The two week program includes cooking sessions, gymnastics, circus, Easter egg hunts and a visit from The Roo Keepers.
One activity that already proved popular with Pleasant Street Primary School pupils on Thursday was the pedal powered slot cars.
Made completely from recycled goods including aluminium walls from an old fish and chip shop, a caravan, washing machines and bicycles, the Race You pedal powered slot cars had children lined up all recess.
Its creator Jeremy Humber said from something that he put together in his garage, he wasn't expecting it to be so popular.
"Some of them find it really addictive and after their turn they jump to the end of the queue again," he said.
"It's just as fun for the spectators."
This year's program is being offered at Pleasant Street Primary School, Black Hill Primary School, Ballarat Specialist School, Alfredton Primary School and Delecombe's Doug Dean Reserve from $60 a day.
