The Good Friday Garage-Punk Blowout will see three garage-punk bands take to the stage in what is expected to be a night of "thrashing anthemic garage that cuts across the decades."
Young garage-punk group The Living Eyes will headline the night with the team at The Eastern keen to show Ballarat how good garage-punk can be.
"The Living Eyes first caught our attention with their blistering 2013 single 'Eat It Up', complete with a film clip of the band wearing newspaper clothing," one of the venue's bookers Doug Wallen said.
"The Living Eyes are one of the most prominent bands in the recent explosion of garage rock from Geelong."
Ballarat's Rick Moranis Overdrive and Lime Lagoons will also perform on the night.
"This is the first Rick Moranis Overdrive gig in ages ... so so we're absolutely stoked for their return," Mr Wallen said.
"RMO member George Hollick will also be debuting as the new drummer for Lime Lagoons, another killer Ballarat garage band. It's only their third gig, but the first two filled The Eastern's band room and got a lot of people talking."
Mr Wallen summed up garage-punk for anyone unsure of what to expect on Friday night.
"There's a brash, primitive simplicity to the style that appeals to a lot of people, whether they're usually fans of indie rock, metal, punk, or something else entirely," he said.
"It's catchy and melodic in a no-nonsense way, with a down-to-earth DIY scrappiness and an exciting element of prickly noise."
The Good Friday Garage-Punk Blowout kicks off at The Eastern on Friday night from 8.30pm. Entry $10.
