BALLARAT Regional Industries’ recycling plant has doubled its paper and cardboard capacity thanks to the generosity of the Percy Baxter Charitable Trust.
The foundation donated $140,000 towards a new bailer at BRI’s Wendouree head office.
BRI recycling and manufacturing manager Andrew Clarke said the bailer compacts cardboard and paper for recycling, so that less was put in landfill.
He said the previous machine was out-dated and inefficient.
“The new machine has also helped to create two new jobs for people with disabilities in Ballarat.
“It has twice the capacity, and it’s able to make a bigger profit.”
