The Her Majesty’s Theatre stage will come to life with a cast of 45, accompanied by an orchestra of 18.
Assistant to the director Vicki Rowe said BLOC tried to perform popular shows that people wanted to see again, as well as bring shows to Ballarat that people may not have seen before.
“Miss Saigon tells a complicated love story of war – how an American GI falls in love with a Vietnamese woman, he goes back to America and she’s pregnant but he doesn’t know,” she said. “He returns a few years later and meets his child.”
Director Stephen O’Neil said the show was a technical challenge and included about 200 costumes.
He encouraged the audience to look out for Bui Doi, sung by a men’s chorus for children left behind in the war.
The cast began rehearsing before Christmas about three times a week to stage the show.
