Tessa Curtain put the Eureka Strikers ahead in the fifth minute with a powerful strike from 20 yards out after getting on the end of a lay off from Alyson Pym. Monbulk struck back in the eighth minute from 30 yards out.
Eureka Strikers controlled the centre of midfield via Curtain and Hannah Kozaris but struggled to exploit space behind the Monbulk defence.
The Eureka Strikers’ superior fitness was evident as play wore on. A goal seemed elusive until the 83rd minute when a corner form Curtain led to a scramble in the box and a flick on from Lulu Al-Huneidi that Pym converted.
Holly Williamson led a strong Eureka Strikers’ defence. Youngster Erin Plucke and Jasmine Emselle were effective in the back lines and prepared to match Monbulk’s physicality.
