Reigning champion Novak Djokovic has set up a date with Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final after breezing past Frenchman Richard Gasquet in straight sets in the semi-final on Friday.

Djokovic now has the chance to level his coach, Boris Becker, with three Wimbledon titles, an achievement that has only been achieved by five players in the Open era.

In their 12 previous meetings, Gasquet had only tasted success against Djokovic once in 2007 and had never taken a set off the Serbian in their two previous grand slam meetings.

That trend continued as the 29-year-old, who knocked out Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round, slumped to his 10th consecutive loss to Djokovic on Friday following a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, 6-4.

He will now take on Federer, who overcame home-town hero Andy Murray 7-5, 7-5, 6-4.

"My biggest motivation is the sport itself," Djokovic said.

"That's where I find a lot of energy, from the love and passion that I have towards playing this sport. If I don't have the drive that comes from that intrinsic feeling of just being on the court and enjoying hitting the tennis balls, I wouldn't be able to stay there. There is no chance.

"Of course, there are other ways of motivating yourself. I want to win every tournament that I'm on as much as other players do. I know I'm not the only one who has this kind of intention and goal. But the most important and the greatest, I'd say, source of drive and energy is love for the sport, just the people around me."

Coming into the semi-final, Gasquet had spent the most time on court during the tournament than any of the other three players remaining, racking up 11 hours and 13 minutes in his previous five matches.

Despite a strong first set, it seemed to have taken its toll on the Frenchman, who was blown out of the water by the Serbian in the second and third sets.

It will be Djokovic's fourth Wimbledon final and his 17th appearance on the final day of a grand slam, passing Bjorn Borg and Ken Rosewall to move into equal fifth alongside Rod Laver on the list of most grand slam final berths.
