Seemingly untouchable, Kennedy brought his own football to Darley Park and proceeded to give himself leather poisoning from opening bounce in the Ballarat Football League match.
The Devils were too strong up forward, even without the tall timber of Rhys Ellis who is stuck in Bali. Seven of Darley’s eight goal kickers booting multiple majors. Jake Edwards, Nathan Lyons, Dane Grenfell and Darren Leonard all slot three.
Bacchus Marsh started the match with a high intensity style of play to control much the first 10 minutes. Brilliant defensive work from Jacob Zeestraten, Mark Hanson and Luke Delahey helped Darley weather the storm.
Cobras Daniel Foley, Hamish Coulton and Cam Richardson were among the few who held their own. The Cobras’ first goal didn’t come until halfway through the third term.
The Devils booted the game’s first 11 goals, dominating at stoppages through Leonard’s hard work and plenty of possession to Tate Stone, Anthony Chiu and Kennedy. Cobra Liam Noonan slotted two goals as the Devils eased into the final term.
Darley coach Jarrod Edwards felt there was room for improvement ahead of what he said was “the most important game of the year” next week against Lake Wendouree.
