The $20 million development has been in the planning since 2008, with work on the Wendouree Parade building beginning in 2012.
Sister Superior of Nazareth Care, Sister Clare Breen said the whole facility can now cater for 145 elderly people in up to date and very pleasant surroundings.
“This means we are offering the residents a better product. It is nice and bright,” she said.
Some of the amenities in the new wing include a hairdresser salon, large activities room with computers and a projector system and a new shop for residents named after the late Mavis Maher, a treasurer for more than 25 years of the Sisters of Nazareth auxiliary.
Residents Julie Duffy and Mary Laffey gave the modern facility the seal of approval, with Ms Laffey complimenting the picturesque surrounds.
“The sitting rooms are great because you can overlook the lake, the same in the dinning room while we are having our breakfast,” she said.
“The whole new building is beautiful.”
About 60 people are expected to attend the official opening on Tuesday, Bishop Paul Bird who will bless each room.
