The Ballarat youngster finished third in the nine-year-old challenge division at the World BMX Championships in Huesden-Zolder, Belgium.
Ty Beadle from the United States won the title from Wyatt Stevens-McNab, of New Zealand, with Jolly making up the podium.
Jolly's performance earns him the The Courier Intersport SportzBiz Junior Sports Star of the Week.
Jolly lined up among 122 riders in his age group and progressed through a series of phases on the one day to reach the last eight in the battle for the title.
Jolly won each of his heats to be one of two Australians to reach the semi-finals, and then produced two seconds and a third to advance to what turned out to be an eventful final.
He began the dash over one lap of a 350m circuit strongly, working into second position, only to overtaken on the first turn and drifting back as far as sixth.
Luck went his way in the closing stages though. While sitting fourth, the third placegetter fell and Jolly was able to jump over the fallen rider to get third.
He was part of a highly successful 140-strong Australian team, which claimed 17 medals - eight gold, four silver and five bronze – over the five days of the event.
Although only nine years of age, Jolly is already a “veteran” of the sport, having followed his father Wayne and grandfather Keith into the sport at the age of two.
He is formerly rode with the Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club, but is now a member of Knox BMX - having made the switch to get stronger competition on a regular basis.
Belgium was his second world championships experience. He had a top 20 finish in his age group two years ago.
Jolly is now targeting next year’s world championships in Colombia.
The Jollys travel all around Australia with BMX. His next assignment is at Mildura, where Josh begins another quest to represent Victoria.
