St Pat’s defeated traditional rival St Joseph’s College Geelong by 23 points in the semi final, thanks mainly to a dominant third quarter.
In a low-scoring affair at Port Melbourne, the green, white and blue kicked six goals to two in the third term to run out 10.3 (63) to 5.10 (40) winners.
A dominant burst from midfielder Joel Cowan blew the game apart in the third quarter, playing a massive hand in St Pat’s booting four goals in a six minutes when St Joseph’s closed the margin to just three points.
After establishing a 33-point lead at the final break, St Pat’s never looked in danger in the last quarter despite kicking into a strong breeze. They will now meet Essendon Keilor College in the grand final on August 8.
Port Melbourne will be the host venue, with the grand final to be held away from the MCG for the first time.
