Organised by the Golden Key International Honour Society Federation University Chapter, the karaoke event will raise funds for the Help Nepal Appeal.
Golden Key International Honour Society Federation University Chapter vice president Laura Forward said the Help Nepal Appeal assisted families to rebuild their homes in the earthquake-stricken regions of Nepal.
"We have a member of the Golden Key who went over to Nepal to help teach in the schools and made a lot of contacts," Ms Forward said.
"After the earthquake, she was bombarded with messages asking for help so she has been running the Help Nepal Appeal here.
"She came to us with this so I suggested we hold a karaoke night."
Sing for Nepal will kick off at 7.30pm with a barbeque with singing starting at 8pm.
Ms Forward said the 80s-themed event would also feature games, a raffle and a surprise event.
The Golden Key International Honour Society is the world's largest international collegian honour society.
The group has a focus on academia, leadership and serving the the wider community.
Sing for Nepal will be held on Thursday, August 6 at the Federation University Mt Helen Campus Albert Coates Bistro.
