As part of the role, the year 12 student will contribute to the creation of a generation of young Australians who are engaged with the world around them.
He will help organise and run events, teach students, be involved in administration, finance, and marketing and the development of new programs.
Riley, of Bacchus Marsh, said he was looking forward to inspiring other students and be around other facilitators who were like-minded.
“I am passionate about human rights equality and I hope to inspire people to make these changes in their daily lives. I will start small and go big,” Riley said.
He said he applied to be a facilitator after attending a LGBTI summitt in March.
Riley will attend schools in Ballarat and Melbourne’s outer suburbs to help students reach a deep understanding of the social and political issues the world faces today, and the skills and drive to solve them.
UNYA is a national youth-led organisation that aims to educate and empower young Australians on global issues.
In Australia, it organises a National Youth Conference, Evatt (a national Model United Nations competition), Voice (a national public speaking competition) and state and territory events.
