Readers of news websites in five Victorian areas have had their say.
At lunchtime on Wednesday, a poll was placed on the websites of the Bendigo Advertiser, The Wimmera Mail-Times, The Courier in Ballarat, The Border Mail in Albury-Wodonga and The Standard in Warrnambool.
Readers were asked the question ‘Who should decide on whether same-sex marriage is legalised?’
The options were:
- The public
- The government
- Both
- Unsure
An identical post promoting the poll was posted across the websites’ five Facebook and Twitter accounts on Wednesday night.
On Thursday at 2.30pm, the votes were collected and percentages taken.
