Mrs Britt was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 – a devastating blow that left her feeling isolated.
“It was hard, there was really any support in the area for women with breast cancer,” Mrs Britt said.
The 2007 formation of the Phoenix Breast Cancer Support changed that.
This year the group will hold its ninth annual charity ball - with the apt theme of superheroes.
The ball will raise funds to donate new beds to the Otis cancer centre in Bendigo. Extra money will go towards creating care packages for women whose lives have been changed by cancer.
The ball will be held at the Victoria Bowling Club on October 10 from 7.30pm to midnight. Tickets are $30, with drinks at bar prices. A bus will leave from Ballan at 6.30pm.
To buy tickets call Mrs Britt on 0408 304 117 or to find out about the Ballan bus call Jan Conroy on 0409 165 531.
