The calisthenics program, starting on Monday, is a 27-day climax to the festival and will feature more than 4000 girls from 90 clubs that will travel from across Victoria, South Australia, the ACT and Queensland to compete.
Ballarat’s Jayde Calithenics sub-juniors are reigning state champions.
Royal South Street Society business manager Brett Macdonald said the calisthenics was one of the most high-profile disciplines in the program and attracted the most entries.
“It’s fabulous for Ballarat – with each performer there is a coach, parent, family coming to visit and stay in Ballarat,” Mr Macdonald said. “South Street is the pinnacle of the calisthenics season….they aspire to win this.”
