Ballarat Police were notified of a suspicious grass fire at Brown Hill on Friday night.

Ballarat Fire Brigade received the call of a small patch of grass alight in Morres Street at 10.18pm. The fire which burnt through mostly green waste and general rubbish was quickly extinguished.
A Ballarat Fire Brigade spokesperson said police were because "there was no obvious reason why the fire would have started making it suspicious".
After investigating police determined a lightning strike was the likely cause, with a nearby resident who called 000 reporting that they heard a loud bang before seeing flames.
*Two units from the Ballarat Fire Brigade and one from Wendouree were called to a structure fire on Creswick Road at 7.15am Saturday morning.
An incident with a fuse box had caused a light fitting to catch fire, however damage was only minor.
