Chris Lynn insists he has no fear of facing spin in the subcontinent after blasting five consecutive sixes in the Big Bash League on Thursday night to make his World Twenty20 selection bid even more compelling.

Lynn added another chapter to his dazzling BBL season by leading bottom-placed Brisbane to a 56-run thrashing of Melbourne Stars, with 56 from 24 balls, including two fours and seven sixes. It took his season tally to 389 runs at an average of 54 and a strike-rate of 173.39.

The 25-year-old pummelled the Stars' Ben Hilfenhaus for five consecutive sixes in the powerplay to reach his half-century from just 19 deliveries.

It was the second time this season Lynn had cleared the boundary five times in an over. He first did it in Queensland club cricket for Toombul from the first five deliveries of one overs, but was left feeling "filthy" at himself after the final delivery landed just inside the boundary.

Lynn acknowledged some batsmen would have retreated after hitting consecutive sixes early in an over, but said instead decided that "if you can do it once, why don't you just keep your shape and go through the same process again and again".

"Sometimes guys might hit two sixes then make sure they close out the over and then try and do it again. But I just thought with the breeze it was just too good to knock back," he said after the match.

"I've played confident, fear-free cricket throughout this campaign and I just wanted to do the same again tonight. I really needed something special if we were to make the semis. It wasn't quite enough, but that's just the way Chris Lynn plays."

Lynn, whose 19-ball half-century was one short of his record, said he hoped he was scoring heavily often enough that bowlers in the Big Bash and other competitions he plays in are daunted by it.

"If I'm putting doubt in the bowler's mind then that's something we've got an advantage for over the bowlers," he said.

"There's players around the world where bowlers do get a bit twitchy about, so hopefully if I keep doing that I might be one of those."

While Lynn fell to the first over of spin in the match - he was caught on the long-off boundary off leg-spinner Adam Zampa - he insisted he was capable of succeeding in India, where he holds an IPL contract with Kolkata, if picked by Australia for the World Twenty20 in March.

"Ultimately each team still bowls around 12 overs of pace, and Twenty20 wickets these days aren't exactly big turners. The boundaries are a lot smaller in India as well, which can work to my advantage," he said.

"I've got a pretty good gameplan now [against spin]. Tonight was probably a different story, given that we had to push a bit harder [due to net run-rate], but I've got a gameplan in place now that I think will work over there if selected, or even just against spinners in general, because I know I'm confident enough to take down the quicks."

The Heat's elimination from the BBL means Lynn will not get another chance to impress selectors with the white ball before they pick the squad for the three Twenty20s against India, and then for the World Twenty20.

The right-hander said he was pleased with how he had performed across the BBL, in terms of an audition for those looming squad announcements.

"I wouldn't say 'absolute best', because you always want to be better ... if you say it's the best case then there's no room for improvement," he said. "It's a good case, but I still want to be better."

Lynn's only international experience were two Twenty20s against England in 2013-14. His Brisbane teammate Samuel Badree, a West Indies leg-spinner who claimed a career-best 5-22, endorsed his captain's credentials for national selection.

"I think he's done enough to warrant selection in the World T20 team. He'd be really unlucky if he didn't get in. He has proven himself ... and he goes well in India as well," he said.

Asked how he would bowl to Lynn if opposed to him, Badree replied: "I'd tell the captain to get another bowler."

"He's certainly impressed me. He's very powerful ... he gets that power from his upper-body strength," he said of Lynn.

Australia's home summer with conclude with the three Twenty20s against India. They will then go to New Zealand for a two-Test series, before starting their World Twenty20 preparation with three matches away to South Africa.
